What is the Martin Ross Style?

The Martin Ross Style is a painting technique that combines a traditional representational background with a distinctive overlay of rectangular brushstrokes. These strokes surround one another in a non-parallel pattern and overlap in varying colors, following a consistent color order throughout the composition.

Unlike Pointillism—which relies on small dots applied through repetitive tapping—the Martin Ross Style employs structured rectangular marks arranged in a deliberate pattern. The technique often features fine details in smaller elements, along with thick outlines around most figures, which are themselves filled with the same multicolored rectangular pattern.

This style was developed in 2012 by Martin Ross in pursuit of a distinctive and recognizable artistic language.
